Özet

Education has long been understood as a central mechanism through which societies reproduce, contest, and transform their social, ethical, and civic foundations. In contemporary educational debates, this transformative role has become increasingly visible, particularly in relation to Social Studies and Primary Education.

This edited volume is grounded in the assumption that classroom practices cannot be meaningfully understood in isolation from their broader societal implications. Social Studies, in particular, functions as a pedagogical space where knowledge, values, identities, and forms of citizenship are actively constructed.

By bringing together contributions from Social Studies Education, Primary Education, and the broader field of Educational Sciences, this book offers an interdisciplinary framework for examining how education mediates the relationship between individual learning and collective social life.

The chapters included in this volume address theoretical, empirical, and pedagogical questions that reflect both global concerns and local educational contexts. Rather than proposing a single normative model, the book foregrounds dialogue, comparison, and critical reflection.

Taken together, the contributions advance an understanding of education not merely as schooling, but as a formative social process that extends from the classroom into society.
