Özet

Türkiye has an important position in the world with its biological diversity and native animal breeds. Among the domestic animal breeds, domestic goose breeds come to the fore. Domestic Turkish geese have been bred for years, especially in Nature Anatolia, Central Anatolia and Black Sea regions, thanks to their economic contributions. In contrast, increases in industrial production have revealed significant threats such as habitat destruction and loss of genetic diversity. This affects both biodiversity and sustainable animal production systems. In this context, it is important to protect domestic genetic resources and to conduct comprehensive genetic analyses.

In this context, when the relevant literature was examined, it was seen that the traditional methods used (mtDNA and microsatellites) were limited in performing in-depth analysis. However, large-scale analyses such as the pan-genome allow for a better understanding of evolutionary processes and genetic diversity. In this study, the importance of the pan-genome approach in better understanding the genetic structure of Turkish native geese and protecting the genetic heritage was evaluated. In this context, the differences of Pan-Genome analysis from other methods, its importance for Türkiye and its applicability in geese were mentioned. In conclusion, the molecular basis of the genetic diversity, adaptation potential and phenotypic variation of Turkish native geese was emphasized with the Pan-Genome approach, and a scientific infrastructure and roadmap for future genomic studies and breeding programs were presented.
