Ergenlik Döneminde Stres Ve Antisosyal Davranışlarda Akademik Ertelemenin Rolü

Özet

Ergenlik dönemi, genel itibariyle 10 ila 19 yaş aralığını kapsamakla birlikte yetişkinlik dönemine geçiş süreci olarak da nitelendirilmektedir. Bu geçiş sürecine bağlı olarak ergenlerin fiziksel, bilişsel ve psiko-sosyal gelişim alanlarında hızlı değişimler meydana gelmektedir (WHO, 2016). Özellikle bu dönemde okul ve arkadaş ortamı, ergenlerin gelişim alanlarını desteklemeye yardımcı olurken akademik ve sosyal taleplerin artması da stres faktörünün tetiklenmesine neden olmaktadır (Demirci vd., 2020). Ayrıca bu dönemde yaşanan kimlik karmaşası, gelecek kaygısı, okul başarısı, aile çatışmaları, cinsel ve fiziksel değişim, akran etkileşimi ve sorunlarla baş etme süreci gibi durumlar da stres düzeyini arttıran durumlar arasında yer almaktadır (Nagabharana vd., 2021). Stresle birlikte ergenlerin akademik görevleri yerine getirme becerisi sekteye uğramakta ve bunun sonucunda da akademik erteleme davranışı ortaya çıkmaktadır (Senécal vd., 1995). Erteleme davranışı ise özellikle ergenlik döneminde davranış sorunları ve psikolojik sorunlarla ilişkilendirilen bir durum olarak nitelendirilmektedir (Gökalp ve Haktanir, 2024). Bireyler, genellikle ergenlik döneminde yüksek seviyede stres yaşama eğilimindedirler. Bu durum da uyumsuz stres tepkilerinin oluşmasına ve davranışsal sorunların gelişmesine neden olmaktadır (Engel ve Gunnar, 2020; Stelzig ve Sevecke, 2019). Özellikle ergenliğin başı olan 11-14 yaş zihinsel, ruhsal ve davranışsal sağlık sorunlarının başlangıcı için kritik bir evre kabul edildiğinden (Solmi vd., 2022) bu dönemde yaşanılan stresin hangi mekanizmalarla davranış sorunlarına yol açtığının belirlenmesi önem arz etmektedir.
