Özet

Egzersize bağlı kas krampları ve enflamasyon, sporcuların performansını ve toparlanma sürecini olumsuz etkileyen önemli fizyolojik sorunlar arasında yer almaktadır. Kas kramplarının etiyolojisi hala tam olarak aydınlatılamamış olmakla birlikte, mevcut kanıtlar nöromusküler yorgunluğun temel belirleyici faktör olduğuna işaret etmektedir. Dehidrasyon ve elektrolit dengesizliklerinin rolü ise sınırlı ve tartışmalı düzeyde kalmaktadır. Bu bağlamda sodyum, potasyum, kalsiyum ve magnezyum gibi elektrolitlerle karbonhidrat depolarının yeterliliği, kramp yönetiminde değerlendirilmesi gereken beslenme parametreleri olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Egzersiz kaynaklı enflamasyon ise iskelet kasında meydana gelen mekanik hasar sonucunda tetiklenen ve interlökin-6, tümör nekroz faktör alfa gibi proenflamatuar medyatörlerin salınımıyla karakterize edilen fizyolojik bir yanıt olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Omega-3 yağ asitleri, D vitamini, kurkumin, vişne suyu ve çeşitli polifenoller gibi anti-enflamatuar özellikteki besin ögelerinin bu yanıtı düzenleyebildiğine dair çalışmalar mevcuttur; ancak klinik öneri düzeyindeki kanıtlar henüz yetersizdir.

Yeterli enerji ve sıvı alımının sağlanması, elektrolit dengesinin korunması ve anti-enflamatuar nitelikteki bütünsel besinlerin diyete dahil edilmesi, egzersiz performansını destekleme ve yaralanma sonrası iyileşmeyi hızlandırma açısından kritik öneme sahip beslenme stratejileri olarak değerlendirilmektedir.
