Özet

Restoratif diş hekimliğinde temel amaçlardan biri, doğal diş dokularının biyomekanik davranışını taklit etmektir. Bu hedefe ulaşmak, özellikle geniş koronal madde kaybına sahip dişlerin tedavisinde güçleşmektedir; çünkü büyük kavite preparasyonları veya endodontik tedavi, dişin yapısal bütünlüğünü daha da zayıflatmaktadır. Kompozit rezinler, üstün estetik özellikleri ve adeziv bağlanma yetenekleri nedeniyle direkt estetik restorasyonlarda tercih edilen materyallerdir. Ancak geniş restorasyonlarda kullanıldıklarında, yapılarındaki polimer matriksin doğal olarak kırılgan olması nedeniyle yeterli kırılma direnci sağlayamayabilir ve fonksiyonel oklüzal yükler altında katastrofik başarısızlıklara yol açabilirler.
