CURRENT APPROACHES AND SOCIAL TABOOS IN SEXUAL HEALTH
Özet
This chapter discusses current approaches to sexual health from the perspective of women’s health nursing and in light of the current literature. The text considers sexual health not only in relation to disease, dysfunction, or reproductive capacity, but also within the context of quality of life, body image, privacy, consent, safety, rights-based care, and access to healthcare services. In the chapter, areas such as the postpartum period, menopause, life after cancer, sexually transmitted infections, HPV, and cervical cancer screening are associated with women’s changing sexual health needs across the life course. In addition, social taboos, stigma, gender norms, and the difficulties that healthcare professionals may experience in discussing sexual health are evaluated from the perspective of women’s health nursing.
